FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Having been founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, it consists of four different programs: Junior FLL (FIRST Lego League), FLL, FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge), and FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition). As part of the FRC program, our team has six weeks to design, create, and program our robot before competing against other teams in the area. If we advance, we also have the chance to compete with teams around the world, as FIRST is a worldwide program. However, it's not just about creating robotics. In the FIRST program, members learn important life skills and lessons that could someday be used in the workforce. It also enforces important values, such as cooperation, innovation, and friendly competition. The scholarships available do not hurt, either!
